Pros and Cons of Nuclear Fission

To even begin to debate the topic of nuclear fission, one must get a sense of what nuclear fission is. Nuclear energy that is found in explosives the effects are called nuclear fission. Nuclear energy is something that is present when radioactive decay mingles into an atomic nucleus. It is also a form of energy that can serve as electricity. The use of nuclear energy is an often debated topic due to the dangers that this energy can cause. Knowing why people are for it and why people are against it may help give you some additional insight.

Did you know that nuclear fission can reduce the amount of pollution that we have as well as reduce the addition of more pollution? Using this form of energy reduces the amount of fossil fuels that we expel into the atmosphere, making the air and water safer for people and other living things. It is a very reliable source that can be converted rather easily into electricity.

Nuclear fission, however, can also be used in weapons. The destruction that it can cause is devastating. Other countries can use this energy to create massive weapons capable of intense damage. Because nuclear fission is made up partly from radioactive materials, it can be concentrated into lethal amounts that has the ability to wipe out large areas of people easily. Nuclear waste, because of its content of radiation, is harmful to more than just people. Plant life, vegetation and animals are also susceptible to the harmful effects of radiation poisoning.

There are many points for and against this type of energy. Used correctly, it is a viable form of energy that would benefit the world immensely, however, in the wrong hands, it can cause ultimate destruction.
